Music of the West African Kora (all ages) In-Person

Join us for a musical performance of the kora by Sean Gaskell. The kora is traditionally played by Griots, oral historians. Many of the songs performed have been preserved over the past 800 years (dating back to the Mande empire). Gaskell studied under the extensive instruction of Moriba Kuyateh and the late Malamini Jobarteh in Gambia as well as Youssoupha and Mamadou Cissokho in Senegal.
